Nine Turkish Firms To Join In Building Nabucco

Nine Turkish companies will be involved in building the Nabucco gas pipeline, the Zaman newspaper has reported. According to the newspaper, Nabucco Gas Pipeline International representative Erdal Tuzunoglu said nine local companies would be attracted to construction on the Turkish segment of the pipeline. He said Turkey and European countries would gain economically from building the pipeline, "Pipes,steel and other construction materials that can be bought on the Turkish market will be needed. Moreover, the construction will animate the labour market in Turkey and so we intend to us local specialists in building this gas pipeline. By the way, on the 3,400 to 4,000 kilometres of the pipeline, 2.750 kilometres will cross Turkey".
