Construction of Nord Stream Starts in April

The first pipes will be placed in Swedish waters in April, while the construction in Gulf of Finland starts in June.

The undersea part of Nord Stream gas pipelines will go from Vyborg in Russia to the German coastal town of Greifswald. Two or three vessels will be involved in laying the pipe this spring reports Helsingin Sanomat.

The Regional State Administrative Agency for Southern Finland issued a permit last Friday for the construction of the undersea pipeline in Finland’s economic zone, as reported by BarentsObserver. With the permission, Nord Stream got its final go-ahead. Sweden, Poland, Denmark and Germany have all approved the pipeline earlier.
