Sechin: Russia Has No Plans for OPEC

(RBC News) - As things stand, Russia has no plans of entering OPEC, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin told journalists today. However, Russia would be interested to gain a kind of observer status at OPEC, as it would need first to learn the ropes of OPEC's internal procedures. Since OPEC does not provide for any observers though, coordination with the OPEC Secretariat remains one of the likely options for Russia.
