"Golden Weld" Completed on Nord Stream Pipeline

The "Golden Weld" Was made on the Nord Stream pipeline on August 19, REGNUM has reported.

The celebratory ceremony marking the "golden weld" took place in Vyborg, near St. Petersburg. This marks a new stage in Russia's accomplishments on the project to build a 1,224-kilometer long pipeline across the bed of the Baltic Sea to consumers in Europe, circumventing transit countries like Belarus and Ukraine.  

Gazprom plans call for the pipeline to be filled with Russian gas in September that will reach Germany in the autumn of this year. Volume pumped along the new route are expected to be nearly 55 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
