Gazprom Chairman: Russia Ready to Supply 40 bcm of Gas per Year to UK

Prime reports that Russia is ready to supply more than 40 billion cubic meters of gas annually to the U.K., natural gas giant Gazprom’s Chairman Viktor Zubkov said on Wednesday in an interview with TV channel Rossiya 24.

“England has become a large consumer. It can consume more than 40 billion cubic meters of gas. Who can provide stable supplies? Russia can fully supply this amount, more than 40 billion cubic meters of gas for the U.K.,” he said.

He said that countries in European are unsure as to how much gas they want to consume but this will become clear by September or perhaps by the end of 2013.

The U.K. is one of Gazprom’s key markets. It is currently being considered as a possible location for a new extension of the Nord Stream pipeline.
