Azerbaijan's natural gas reserves projected to reach 6 trillion cubic meters

First vice president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Khoshbaht Yusifzade, stated that Azerbaijan has a total of 2 billion tonnes of proven oil reserves and 2.5 trillion cubic meters of proven natural gas reserves as of 2012. Additional predicted gas reserves in offshore prospects will lead eventually to a 4 tcm increase in proven gas reserves, according to the official.

"Considering the reserves of promising offshore structures, as Babek, Nakhchivan, Shafag-Asiman, Zafar-Mashal, both predicted and proven reserves of natural gas in Azerbaijan make 6 trl cubic meters", Yusifzade told a session of the Caspian European Integration Club.
