Russia has been interested in a Belarusian technologies to clean fuel spills, the news agency BELTA has reported, citing the deputy head of the polar region studies center at the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, Aleksey Gaydashov.
The substance of made of peat, which is a very good absorber. It was tested in different climates, from low sub-zero temperatures (Celsius) upwards. A Belarusian polar expedition tested the substance from November 2013 till May. The problem of fuel spill cleaning is very pressing for the Arctic region, where much fuel waste has been accumulated.
