Russian oil major Lukoil has scheduled the launch of the Iraqi West Qurna-2 field for late March or early April, which will increase the company’s output 1.5% in 2014, CEO Vagit Alekperov said on January 24, Prime has reported.
Lukoil has begun producing oil in West Qurna-2, a famous deposit in Iraq. The first well drilling resulted in high-quality light oil flow to surface.
Russia’s largest private oil company Lukoil plans to extract the first oil from the giant West Qurna-2 field in southern Iraq in November, the company’s vice president said Friday. “The oil field will see a solemn launch ceremony at the end of the year. In November, we will produce the first commercial oil,” Leonid Fedun said during a telephone conference.
Lukoil is not in negotiations with China's PetroChina about joining its West Qurna-2 project in Iraq, Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov said during a visit to Baku, according to a report from Samotlor Express.
