Alexei Mordashov’s Severstal has supplied the first batch of pipes for marine sector of the South Stream gas pipeline, the company’s press service said on May 27, ITAR-TASS has reported. More than 40,000 tons of pipes is planned to be delivered for the goal.
On April 15, pipe No.1 for the first line of South Stream's offshore section was produced at the Vyksa Steel Works (part of the United Metallurgical Company – OMK), Gazprom’s press office has said.
More than 200 million rubles is to be invested into a large-scale project to upgrade the equipment at plate-rolling facility No.3 of Cherepovets Steel Mill, a major global integrated steelmaker, which is part of Severstal Russian Steel Division.
