Russian gas flows to Ukraine stable - Ukrtransgaz

January 8, 2015

Ukraine is receiving steady supplies of Russian natural gas, Maxim Belyavsky, spokesman for Ukrainian gas transport monopoly Ukrtransgaz, said on Monday.

"The supplies are stable. In December, we received a total of 518 million cubic metres (mcm) of Russian gas and we received an additional 123 mcm of Russian gas in the first three days of January," Belyavsky said.

Supplies from Russian gas exporter Gazprom were cut off for six months in a dispute over pricing and unpaid bills before being resumed on Dec. 9.

Ukraine paid Gazprom $378 million for one billion cubic metres of gas in December to replenish its reserves. It paid additional $150 million for January gas supplies.
