Shell still intends to produce gas from compacted sand in Ukraine. Currently, work has reached the first, preparatory, stage – a baseline environment status evaluation of Yusovsky site.
This information has been provided by the company’s press service in response to the inquiry about Shell’s possible suspension of non-conventional gas production in Ukraine due to unstable situation in the east part of the country.
According to the company’s representatives, gas production cannot start before an environmental status evaluation is completed.
“We regularly communicate with government bodies on a number of issues, including a potential effect of the situation in the east part of the country on the company’s activity in some areas developed under Yuzovsky project,” press service reports.
