The future of Russian hydrocarbon exports is in the Pacific region, China in particular, ITAR-TASS has cited Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov as saying in an interview with Rossia-24 TV. He said large Russian oil and gas companies were planning export diversification so as to sell more to the Pacific region.

There were certain questions about Russian exports to Europe and transit through Ukraine was a permanent concern, that’s why Russian companies planned to redirect their flows to the east, China in particular, said Siluanov. He also said Russia was thinking about charging rubles for its exports. Russia wants to see the ruble used more often in international payments, he said.
