Russian Arctic recoverable oil, gas resources estimated at 106bn tons

Recoverable resources of the Russian Arctic region are estimated at 106bn tons of oil equivalent, the president of the Russian Gas Society, Pavel Zavalny, has told a conference on Arctic oil and gas. He said gas reserves were estimated at 69.5tn cubic meters. He added that more than 60 large hydrocarbon deposits were located in the Arctic, including 43 in the Russian sector. Earlier, Russian Arctic resources were estimated at 76bn tons of oil equivalent or 52% of the world’s total Arctic resources.
