Gazprom said in a press release on February 4 that it was going to invest up to 10bn rubles in the Kirinskoye gas condensate field in Sakhalin in 2014.
Gazprom chief Aleksey Miller met Sakhalin governor Aleksandr Khoroshavin to discuss Gazprom’s projects on February 4. Gazprom invested some 250bn rubles in the region’s energy sector in 2009-13, said Miller. The bulk was spent on the Kirinskoye deposit and building the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok gas pipeline and a pipe linking the pipeline to the Kirinskoye. It emerged after the meeting that Gazprom planned to start production at the Kirinskoye within the next 11 months.
