An operating agreement on shale gas production between Ukraine and the U.S. oil and gas company Chevron may be signed in March 2014, Ukrinform has reported. Therefore, Chevron will be able to actually start development of the Oleska field in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

Acting Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytsky has said this on February 4.

“Chevron representatives are in Ukraine and coordinate their actions with the Ministry,” Stavytsky noted.

In addition, according to the Minister, last week, an investment program of the Shell Company was approved for 2014, which is already engaged in the development of the Yuzivska field in Ukraine's east. The Yuzivska gas field is located on the territory of Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, and gas stocks on its territory, according to the geological survey, make up 4.05 trillion cu m.
