Rosneft to launch Ukraine’s Lisichansk refinery in summer

February 3, 2014

Russia’s largest oil company Rosneft will launch Ukraine’s Lisichansk Oil Refinery, whose operations were halted in March 2012, in June–August, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin told Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on January 31, Prime has reported.

“We are upgrading the plant actively. I think that it will be launched in summer,” Sechin said.

He said that the refinery needed significant modernization and huge investment.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich said in November 2013 that Kiev wanted to buy 50% in the Lisichansk Oil Refinery, which Rosneft received as part of a merger with TNK-BP. Rosneft said that it had no plans to sell the asset.
