The resource base available to the Yamal LNG liquified natural gas production plant is enough to allow the enterprise to produce 30 to 5 million tons a year, Russian Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko said during government hour in the Russian Duma, RIA-TEK reports.

The Russian government has confirmed a plan to develop LNG on the Yamal peninsula which includes building a 15-million-ton-per-year liquified gas production facility in 2012-2018 which could later be enlarged to a capacity of 30 to 50 million tons per year. "The resource base makes that possible", the minister said.
