Ukrainian Gas, Electricity Prices to Be Cut on January 1

Prices for gas and electricity for population will be reduced from next year due to the VAT rate reduction, the head of the price policy management of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, which performs state regulation in the energy sphere (NERC) Ruslan Kaidash told a Ukrinform correspondent on December 16.

“The NERC in its resolution made amendments concerning reduction of prices for population for electricity and gas from January 1, 2014. This became possible due to amendment of the Tax Code norms, where reduction of the VAT rate was envisaged from 20% to 17%,” said Kaidash.

About new retail prices for population, consumers will be informed by companies, which supply gas and electricity.
