Ukraine Says Russian Gas Transit to Rise This Year

November 29, 2013

The transit of Russia gas via Ukraine’s territory may exceed 90 billion cubic meters this year, Eduard Stavitsky, Ukraine’s minister of energy and coal industry, told reporters on November 28, Itar-Tass has reported.

According to the ministry’s information, gas transit last year dropped by 19.1 percent as compared with 2011 to 84.261 billion cubic meters.

The minister made assurances that the amount of gas transit in 2013 will be larger than last year. “I believe it will be about 90 billion cubic meters or, maybe, larger,” Stavitsky said. Commenting on the plans for next year, he said Kiev hoped that the volume of gas pumping would be “at the level of 90 billion, or even higher.”
