Ukraine to join EU third energy package

April 3, 2014

Ukraine is going to join the EU third energy package, Energy Minister Yury Prodan has told UK diplomats. The two sides discussed energy cooperation between Kiev and London and British assistance to Ukraine. They also discussed non-traditional hydrocarbons, the implementation of production-sharing agreements by UK companies working in Ukraine, the third energy package for Ukraine, and gas supply diversification through the construction of an LNG terminal.

The EU-US energy summit in Brussels has also voiced its support for Kiev’s diversification efforts through a reverse gas flow scheme, as well as by increasing gas storage.
