Ukrainian state-run energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy has guaranteed trouble-free Russian gas transit to Europe in winter, CEO Yevgeny Bakulin said on December 3, Prime has reported, citing RIA Novosti.

“We are ready to guarantee stable supplies of Russian gas to Europe,” Bakulin said, adding that Ukraine has pumped 17.2 billion cubic meters of gas into its underground storage facilities so far.

Vitaly Markelov, deputy CEO of Russian gas giant Gazprom said earlier that stable transit requires 21.5 billion cubic meters of gas to be pumped into Ukrainian underground storage facilities.

Naftogaz Ukrainy stopped taking gas from its underground facilities and resumed purchases from Russia in accordance with the contract on November 15 after a 14-day halt.
