Ukraine can get 30bn cubic meters of Slovak gas - Naftogaz head

April 22, 2014

Existing pipeline capacities allow Slovakia to pump 30 billion cubic meters of gas to Ukraine annually, CEO of energy company Naftogaz Ukrainy Andrei Kobolev said on April 18, Prime has reported.

“We will fill three lines of the pipeline with larger gas volumes, if we talk about the reverse supplies. This gas will come back, it will be sent back by the existing pipelines, there is no need to build anything new,” Kobolev said.

“We will solve the problem by using isolation valves, and the gas will come back to Ukraine the way it works in Poland. This will allow us to pump about 30 billion annually.”

On April 10, Slovakia started technical preparations for reverse supplies. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Ukraine must finance the construction of a 20 million euro pipeline so that Slovakia could ship gas to Ukraine.
