Ukraine to buy 33-35 billion cubic meters of Russian gas in 2014

Ukraine plans to buy 33-35 billion cubic metres of Russian gas, Ukrainian Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Eduard Stavitsky told journalists, Itar-Tass reported on January 24.

“We plan to buy at least 33-35 billion cubic metres of gas,” he said, adding that this was the upper limit of planned gas purchases.

In December 2013, Stavitsky said that Ukraine planned to buy 30-33 billion cibic metres of Russian gas in 2014. Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Boiko however said that Kiev would continue to reduce it gas imports from Russia.
