SPD and Yugra Government Set Partnership Priorities for 2013

On November 16, 2012 Salym Petroleum Development N.V. (SPD) and the Government of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra (KHMAO-Yugra) signed the Cooperation Agreement for 2013. SPD CEO Simon Durkin and KHMAO-Yugra Governor Natalia Komarova put their signatures on the document specifying the priorities and scope of partnership development in 2013.

“Signing the Agreement is an important milestone for the Company on the eve of the 10th anniversary of the Salym project and one more significant step in strengthening and further developing of our partnership”, told SPD CEO Simon Durkin. – Since the start of the Salym project in 2003, SPD has invested 720 million rubles into social sphere development and charities in the region. I am confident that our solid experience of partnership will be the basis for successful implementation of the new social projects contributing to improvement of Yugra community living standards. I believe that through such mutually beneficial cooperation and synergy we can now resolve many problems facing the region and energy sector”.

In 2013, within the cooperation agreement, SPD will contribute to the social and economic development of the region through implementation of social programs in education, health care, ecology, entrepreneurship, and road safety. The company will also continue its focus on the application of frontier technologies in enhance oil recovery, geological study, environment, energy efficiency as well as on the capacity building of regional R&D sphere. The new agreement covers the proposals put forward by the Nefteyugansk District where SPD operates.

Since the early days of Salym oil fields development SPD has been contributing to positive improvements and social changes in the region and continues to be a reliable and responsible partner of the KHMAO-Yugra Government. Annual agreements on social and economic cooperation between KHMAO-Yugra Government and SPD have been concluded since the year 2005.
