Russian scientists to look for Arctic oil and gas

April 8, 2014

The largest expedition since the Soviet times is going to look for oil and gas in the Arctic region, Arktika-Info has reported, adding that areas of the Kara Sea, Laptev Sea and New Siberian Islands will be explored. The Yamal ice-breaker will carry the scientists who are going to study the Arctic shelf. This will be a continuation of last year’s exploration of the south-western part of the Kara Sea where ice and hydro-meteorological conditions were studied.
