Russia’s Varyeganneft implements energy efficiency plan

April 16, 2014

Varyeganneft, a subsidiary of Russneft, will continue to implement its energy efficiency program at the Varyegan oil block in 2014. In particular, loss-making wells whose capacity totals 1,227 kW will be stopped and electric submersible pumps will be upgraded in the first quarter of 2014. Energy saving programs made it possible to save 8.521mn kWh of power last year. By the end of this year, Varyeganneft will continue decommissioning loss-making wells, installing power factor correction units, and installing variable speed drives to control rod pumps in order to save energy.
