Russia Ready to Discuss Gas Price Cut – Ukrainian President

Russia is ready to talk about a reduction in the price of natural gas for Ukraine, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with three former Ukrainian presidents on December 10, Ukrinform has reported.

"Today Russia is ready to discuss this issue," he said.

He said that Russia is also concerned about losses on the Ukrainian market and that this causes damage to the Russian economy.

The president noted that Ukraine cannot pay such a high price for gas, because it exceeds the average European price by more than $200. "And we have received over 20 billion [dollars] in losses over the last three-and-a-half years. This question needs to be resolved in the first place," he said.
