Russia not to sell gas to Europe at Ukrainian border

April 23, 2014

Gazprom has no plans to sell its European customers gas at the Russia–Ukraine border to make them responsible for pumping through Ukraine, like European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has suggested, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on April 22, RIA Novosti reported.

“As regards the possibility to pay for gas at the border and to use other basis for the supplies, of course, we can analyze this option but I am reminding you that the gas market functions so that contracted gas is supplied under a take or pay system, and long-term contracts are the basis for our gas partnership with Europe,” Medvedev said.
