Russia’s Gazprom, Lukoil to jointly prevent oil spills

Gazprom Deputy Chairman Vitaly Markelov and Lukoil First Executive Vice-President Ravil Maganov have signed an agreement on cooperation in the prevention and liquidation of consequences of oil spills at sea.

Gazprom and Lukoil agreed to help each other in such emergencies, engaging professional emergency crews.

The agreement also provides for exchanging information on the available capacities and means to face emergency situations as well as for joint consultations and training. By the end of 2014, Gazprom and Lukoil are going to conduct joint training at the Prirazlomnaya platform and the Varandeysky terminal.
