Report: China LNG Imports Hit 1 Million Tons in August, Double On Previous Year

September 21, 2010
China's liquefied natural gas (OOTC:LNGLF) (LNG) imports reached 1 million metric tons in August 2010, almost double that of 462,484 metric tons of LNG imports in August 2009, according to Reuter quoted an unnamed government official as saying during the weekend.
The source said most of LNG imports are to feed a receiving terminal in China's southern Guangdong province.
The General Administration of Customs (GAC) on Sept. 11, 2010 released major commodity items' import and export statistics for August, which show that China's crude oil imports stood at 157.87 million metric tons (tonnes) in the first eight months of 2010, up 22.6 percent year on year, while the product oil imports reached 23.88 million metric tons in the first eight months, down 8.5 percent over the same period in 2009.
But natural gas imports and exports were not included in the release as usual.
