Medvedev Launches APG-fired Power Station

Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev took part is a ceremony to launch the first line of the Priobsk gas turbine power station which runs on associated petroleum gas in Khanty-Manskiysk today. The Priobsk power station belongs to RN-Yuganskneftegaz, which in turn is a subsidiary of Rosneft. Medvedev said, “With the help of stations like these, an entire range of problems are solved. This is an extraordinary example of energy efficiency in Russia. This is the biggest power station to run on associated petroleum gas in Russia today”.

The Russian president noted that the station had been built in a short length of time – construction began in just September of last year. He also pointed out that two other lines at the station would be launched within a year. “The objective of utilizing APG is not solved merely with the launch of this station, but it is a step in the right direction”, Medvedev said. “This is a principally new type of object for our country and is aimed at improving energy conservation”.

Rosneft President Sergey Bogdanchikov said the station helps solve three problems: using APG, providing power to Russia’s filed “number 1” and stabilizing the supply of electricity within the region.
