LUKOIL is investing 5 billion rubles in Kama-Nature as part of the Environmental Safety Program Group LUKOIL in the Perm region. The investment will be spread over 2014-2018 and among 40 integrated activities.
"To maintain and improve environmental efficiency - that's a daily priority for us. Just this year, Perm Group LUKOIL will invest more than 5 billion rubles in environmental measures," Deputy Director General and Chief Engineer of LUKOIL-PERM, Oleg Tretyakov, said in a press statement.
In the first half of 2014 already 30 major projects have been approved for inclusion into the program; an investment of 2.1 billion rubles. In particular, in order to improve environmental and industrial safety, the company has prepared 242 km of pipelines, and run diagnostics on 24.3 km of pipelines. Work is underway to protect the pipelines from electrochemical corrosion stretching over 2,000 km. Also, during the summer, in the Kama area waters, about 660,000 fry of valuable fish species will be released. This is 2.5 times more than last year, according to LUKOIL press service.
In accordance with the Environmental Safety Program Group LUKOIL will be constructing new pipelines to channel associated gas so as to eliminate the need for flaring. This will take place in the second half of the year and include a total length of 105 km in pipelines.
