Lithuanian, Gazprom Experts Conclude Gas Price Discussions

November 13, 2013

Experts of Lithuania and Gazprom gas giant have concluded the talks on fixing the future price of Russian natural gas for Lithuania, Yaroslavas Neverovicius, and the Lithuanian Minister of Energy, said in a broadcast of Zinju Radijas radio station on Tuesday, Itar-Tass reported on November 12.

“The experts have completed their work,” Neverovicius said. “It’s time for decision-making for our partners,” he noted. The minister heading the Lithuanian expert group expressed the hope that the gas price would be “rationalized.” The liquefied natural gas terminal which must go into operation in late 2014 is an extra argument for lowering the gas price, Neverovicius said.

Lithuania pays to Gazprom about 500 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres of natural gas, a higher price than Latvia, Estonia and many European countries pay.
