Lithuania’s major gas distributor Lietuvos Dujos has signed an agreement with Russian gas giant Gazprom to cut supply prices, the company said in a statement on May 29 without disclosing the prices, Prime has reported.

“We have succeeded in accomplishing the goal of getting competitive prices for Russian gas,” Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevichius told reporters, adding that the price for consumers will fall by 20%.

The local media said that the price was cut to $375 per 1,000 cubic meters from $500 per 1,000 cubic meters. The new tariff will be in effect from June 1 through the end of 2014.
