Kazakhstan to tap global geological market – president

January 20, 2014

Kazakhstan has to tap the global geological market, President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said in his annual address to the nation.

He said the extractive industry should become more effective so that Kazakhstan should become more competitive. Nazarbayev also said there was need for new approaches to management, production and processing while the export potential of the hydrocarbon sector should be preserved.

Nazarbayev said the country’s resources remained largely unresearched. He suggested that Kazakhstan’s reserves were richer than currently known and said that investment from foreign engineering companies should be attracted, so legislation should be simplified.
