February 7, 2014

Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov at a meeting of the industry ministry in Astana on February 6 suggested that more powers should be given to the national geological company Kazgeologia.

He said Kazakhstan was running out of solid fuel reserves and recalled that President Nursultan Nazarbayev had ordered expanding geological prospecting. However, Kazgeologia has been underperforming thus far. Akhmetov suggested that it lacked powers.
