Kazakh fund to develop small petrochemical businesses

The small business support fund Damu is ready to finance the development and small- and mid-size petrochemical businesses, fund board chairman Lyazzat Ibragimova told a briefing in Astana on April 21. She said the fund deposited 100bn tenges on the accounts in 13 banks in order to lend to oil-processing SMEs. These are Kazkommertsbank, BTA, Narodny Bank, Sberbank of Russia, TsentrKredit, TsesnaBank, ATF Bank, Eurasian Bank, Temirbank, Nurbank, Bank RBK, Delta Bank, Asia Credit and Kazinvestbank. Asked about specific projects, Ibragimova admitted the choice was not big. “But we hope there will be more projects”, she said, adding that several of the existing projects focused on polypropylene and polyethylene production.
