Gazprom Geologorazvedka director-general Aleksey Davydov has had a working meeting with Irkutsk Region Governor Sergey Yeroshchenko in Irkutsk. They discussed development of the region’s natural resources.
Davydov said that, according to Gazprom’s eastern gas program, a gas production centre is being created in Irkutsk Region on the basis of the Kovykta gas condensate field, which is to become one of the main gas sources for the gas transportation network Power of Siberia. In accordance with the geological exploration program for 2014-16, several exploration wells will be drilled and 3D seismic surveys will be conducted.
Yeroshchenko said that geological exploration is an important stage to create new resource opportunities for the region’s gas sector development. The government of Irkurtsk Region is ready to support the company in this. The two sides discussed further cooperation to implement geological exploration works in the region.
