Gazprom to Buy More Large Pipes in 2014

December 12, 2013

Russian natural gas giant Gazprom will increase the purchase of large-diameter pipes to 1.2–1.3 million tonnes in 2014 from 800,000–900,000 tonnes planned for 2013, Ivan Shabalov, chairman of Pipe Manufacturers Association, told Prime news agency on December 11.

Shabalov said that large scale pipe supplies will be made for South Stream and Sila Sibiri (the Strength of Siberia) gas pipeline projects, which were initially planned for this year.

In 2013, Gazprom’s purchases of large diameter pipes are expected to decrease by around 10-20% due to delays in the projects.
