Italy's leading oil and gas concern, ENI, intends to participate in exploring for and producing shale gas in Poland to compensate for falling production in other areas of Europe, ENI CEO Paolo Scaroni said.
Scaroni did not disclose any of ENI's plans for operating in Poland. Furthermore, ENI did not submit a bid on November 1, 2010, to take part an exploration concession tender with the Polish Environmental Ministry.
The ministry will report on the bids in the beginning of December.
The only specific statement Scaroni made was that ENI intends to work in Poland using the technologies of its American partner, Quick Silver Resources.
