Ecuador Invites Belarus to Mature Fields

December 18, 2013

Ecuador has invited Belarus to take part in projects to extend the life-cycle of mature oil fields, Ecuador Vice President Jorge Glas Espinel told BelTA on December 17. The Ecuadorian Vice President is on a visit to Belarus as part of highest-level agreements.

The Vice-President noted that Belorusneft had already started conducting surveys in Ecuador. “The two countries would like to sign a new contract to expand cooperation in oil production. The cooperation envisages joint projects to increase recovery from mature oil fields,” Jorge Glas Espinel said. He noted that Belarus showed a sincere interest in sharing its technologies and expertise. “We admit that Belarus indeed has a great potential and is willing to cooperate. Belarus will not be just a supplier of goods and services, it will also transfer its technologies. Of course, technologies can be bought, but there is a difference between buying and transferring. It is the transfer of Belarusian technologies that we are talking about,” the Vice President said.
