China to Buy 10 BCM of Uzbek Gas a Year

June 10, 2010
China's state oil firm CNPC has signed a framework agreement to buy 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas a year from Uzbekistan's national oil company Uzbekneftegaz, Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday, citing a statement from the Chinese firm.
The two firms will first work to connect the Uzbek gas transmission system to the China-Uzbekistan pipeline, it said.
The pipeline is part of a 1,833-kilometer China-Central Asia gas pipeline that opened in December 2009, linking gas fields in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan to Xinjiang in northwest China.
