Cash in on a Hot Opportunity before Summer Ends

Pat Davis Szymczak

Seems everyone these days is on holiday. I’ll be taking mine in Houston and Milwaukee shortly and during that time, I’ll also visiting New York to speak about opportunities in Russian publishing at a FIPP/ABM conference – that’s the Federation of International Periodical Press and American Business Media (
For publishers, this is the time of year we think about plans for 2009. In Russian energy, the first half of the year seems to be the build up to Neftegaz or MIOGE depending on the year – our cover theme for July. The second half is spent talking with customers about advertising and marketing plans for 2009.
This year, the industry has the bi-annual SPE Russian Oil&Gas Technical Conference and Exhibition to look forward to October 28-30 ( Oil&Gas Eurasia’s October issue is again the official publication; we are also the official publisher of the exhibition catalogue and show daily newspaper. Visit for information and if you have a specific question about the many marketing opportunities we offer through these publications, write us at [email protected].
Looking ahead to OGE’s schedule in the next few months, I’d like to call your attention to our next few issues. Contact us at [email protected].
August – Cover focus WEST SIBERIA with first hand reporting from Tyumen region. Oil&Gas Eurasia visited Tyumen, Tobolsk and points in between to talk with companies that are fostering serious economic growth: companies such as Bentec, Schlumberger, Sibur, KCA Deutag and others. Tyumen has, from my point of view, struck the right balance between government assistance and private enterprise. Bonus distribution at Russia’s regional Siberian events in September.
September – Cover focus DRILLING; the latest from major drill rig manufacturers including Bentec which opens its Tyumen manufacturing plant in September. Oil&Gas Eurasia travels to Germany to talk to Bentec’s top management and to Tyumen to visit the new plant. We report also on supply and demand in the Russian drilling market and talk with companies providing services and support to Russian drilling contractors. Bonus distribution at KIOGE and Tyumen’s Technology Conference.
October – SPE Russian Oil&Gas Technical Conference Official Publication. Cover Focus: R&D featuring an interview with the General Director of Gazprom’s R&D Institute, VNIIGAZ. Also in this issue: Recruitment and training. Bonus distribution at the SPE show.
November – Environment and safety. Bonus distribution at the Murmansk Shelf exhibition.
December – Yearend look ahead to company budgets and planning for 2009. A look at Russia’s national oil companies and how to do business with them. Bonus: Yearend calendar issue.
Don’t forget when you are choosing media for 2009 Oil&Gas Eurasia is the only publication with circulation confirmed by a BPA audit. Some publications muddy the waters with various claims, but only Oil&Gas Eurasia actually has an audit. We’ve been doing this since 2005. Visit and to see why this is important to your ROI. And if you’re like to subscribe you can do this also through and pay by credit card. Choose between our print edition or digital flip book. Any comments? Write me direct at [email protected] and enjoy the summer weather while you can! In Russia, winter is always around the corner!
