TNK-BP Opens Tyumen-London Training Center for Geologists (24.10.2008)

TNK-BP is rightfully proud of the center for professional training and retraining of specialists in geology and oil and gas engineering opened in the capital of the region, Richard Herbert, Executive Vice President, Technology, TNK-BP, said at the center opening ceremony.

“Our dream has come true. Implementation of a new education program has become possible owing to the joint efforts of the Tyumen Oil and Gas University, TNK-BP, and Royal Holloway University of London,” noted he.

On May 21, 2008, a memorandum was signed by the Tyumen Oil and Gas University, Royal Holloway University of London, and TNK-BP with a new concept of master degree program. This program will make it possible for Russian graduates to get high-quality European education in the Department of Geology of the Royal Holloway University of London and use the educational resources of the Tyumen Oil and Gas University. Expenses for education and training of young specialists will be paid by TNK-BP.

“I do envy the students that will be trained at this center and would be happy to join them. Opening this new program, we are thinking of the future, which will be determined by new technologies and ideas, education, and universities. We are sure that the oil and gas industry will have a determining role in the future,” said Mr. Herbert and pointed out that the education program satisfies high and stringent requirements. Interviews with future students showed a generally high level of their professional education and proficiency.
