Problem solving of cuttings transportation by Burintekh PDC Reamer bits

While drilling large diameter intervals practically always there occurred problems concerning cuttings transportation, low mechanical drilling speed and incapability of qualitative parameters set of inclined wells' curvature. With vertical wells, in its turn,  there is a problem of selecting  BHA elements to provide verticality of the well profile.

To solve the abovementioned problems SPE "Burintekh" offers to use blade reamers  of RL type, impregnated with PDC cutters. The operational life of the reamers compares well with that of the PDC bits under the same conditions, at the same time reaming is performed at high penetration rates. The deficiency of such elements in the reamer as cone rollers almost excludes the risk of metal loss in the bottom hole, and the possibility of replacing used blades allows considerably to de crease operational expenses for the equipment repair works.

It is possble to use such reamers in vertical sections as incorporated into the floating BHA simultaneously drilling and reaming. While drilling inclined wells pilot hole is drilled out with standard PDC bits 295,3 mm or 312,2 mm and 240 mm in diameter of hydraulic downhole motor, after which reaming is performed. The abovementioned technology lets to solve many problems, connected with cuttings transportation using big diameters of bits, and to provide required project profile while using standard technologies of directional drilling.

Blade reamers of RL type are produced in two standard types: RL 288-394 and RL 288-510 with reaming diameter 394 mm and 510 mm accordingly.
