CHTPZ pipe welding shop is to commission an anticorrosion coating line for large diameter pipes used for main pipelines construction. The company started a €16 million investment project back in 2008. The project was undertaken within the framework of a strategy, the goal of which was to meet the demands of fuel-and-energy companies, the main customers of CHTPZ. This new coating line capable to process 400,000 tons of pipes per year. The line includes: a pipe flushing unit, a pre-heating unit, a shot-blasting unit, a coating unit, a drying chamber and a final quality control site. The technology suggests application of a smooth surface coating to ensure the reduction of costs of oil and gas pumping via pipelines. The coating line is also designed to apply coating that would considerably increase oil and gas pipelines’ service life. In the nearest future the new coating line will be supposedly certified by representatives of the main customers – Gazprom and Transneft; afterwards the industrial operation will stat. Currently two three-layer anticorrosion polyethylene coating lines are in operation at the pipe welding shop.
