Offering an Integrated Solution for Oil Sludge Processing

Oil field development, crude oil treatment and processing, and also its transportation result in formation of significant amounts of oily waste – oil sludge. Oil sludge is accumulated and stored in open pits, becoming a source of contamination of surface and subsurface waters, atmospheric air and the environment in general.

To solve the problem of oil sludge processing, Promtechnokom offers the MKIII phase separation unit based on centrifugal separators and decanters manufactured by Alfa Laval, the world leader in mechanical separation technologies. The operation principles of the company-manufactured units include separation of the initial oil-contaminated raw stock into three constituents – oil, water, and solid residue. By its characteristics, oil received at the unit’s outlet resembles tank oil; separated water is returned to the natural water bodies; solid residue can be used for construction purposes.

MKIII unit consists of the following components:
Shale shaker for removal of solids from the initial raw stock.
Decanter for liquid and solid phase separation.
Separators for oil and water separation and for fine after-treatment of water and oil.
Solid residue utilization module.

Modular unit MKIII is mobile and can be installed at any minimum prepared production site. If the units undergo annual maintenance in accordance with the requirements of the technical manuals, the period of their continuous operation can exceed 20 years. All the equipment complies with the GOST requirements and is certified in accordance with the Rostechnadzor requirements.

In the last 20 years, more than 12 MKIII units were supplied to the customers in Russia. The first unit for oily waste processing was supplied on July 27, 1987, to the Yaroslavsky refinery, and since then has been successfully operated at this plant. During more than 20-year period of operation, the unit has processed over 1.2 million tons of oily waste, and four off-site sludge collecting ponds were abandoned. MKIII unit enabled processing of oily waste accumulated at the company during more than 50 years of operation.
