ExxonMobil has announced that a new addition to its Mobil Pegasus Series of high-performance lubricants for natural gas engines, Mobil Pegasus 1005, will be introduced worldwide.
Formulated with the highest quality basestocks and advanced additive technology, Mobil Pegasus 1005 is designed to provide today’s high output, low-emissions four cycle gas engines with exceptional levels of protection while also delivering superior performance for older model engines.
Mobil Pegasus 1005 was developed through extensive laboratory and engine bench testing, as well as comprehensive field tests with major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) around the world, to ensure exceptional performance capabilities over the long haul. This testing showed that Mobil Pegasus 1005 can provide double the oil life compared with previous mineral oil-based Mobil Pegasus formulations, helping companies reduce their oil consumption, oil disposal and maintenance costs.
With more than 40,000 hours of rigorous field testing, conducted with customers and leading OEMs, Mobil Pegasus 1005 provides outstanding anti-wear characteristics to protect heavily loaded valve train components while maintaining compatibility with catalytic converter materials.
Experts say its advanced detergent-dispersant system controls the formation of carbon and varnish deposits to minimize oil consumption and maintain engine cleanliness even during extended drain intervals.
Furthermore, Mobil Pegasus 1005 provides exceptional oxidation stability, nitration resistance and thermal stability, which helps to maintain the highest level of engine cleanliness and can improve customer value by enhancing equipment performance and durability.
