The announcement for a tender to prepare a technical-economic feasibility report for the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector project which envisions supplying Azerbaijan liquified gas via the Georgian Black Sea coast to Romania, Georgian Energy Minister Aleksandr Khetaguri said, Business-Geeorgia reports.
Khetaguri said that a tri-lateral agreement was signed on the level of ministers for the project and that a company was now being founded in Romania which would draft the feasibility report and then begin to search for investors to build terminals are related infrastructure in Georgia and Romania.
"We are talking about a company being registered in the autumn which will attract financing to prepare the feasibility report. The European Union has a number of grants which it could use to invest in the project. Beginning in September, the company can attract the funding and announce a tender for the report", Khetaguri said.
