New Gas Compressor Station Opens in Turkmenistan

On May 26, the ceremony of laying a foundation stone of the Dovletabad-2 gas compressor station and opening of the Dovletabad-3 gas compressor station took place in the Dovletabad field, Ahal province of Turkmenistan.

According to the Turkmen State News Agency (TDH), Turkmen president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Andris Piebalgs, EU Commissioner for Energy, took part in the ceremony. The EU delegation included also Pierre Moreil, EU Special Envoy for Central Asia, and Kun Minne, head of Belgian ENEX Company and Turkmenistan’s Honorary Consul in Belgium.

As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov told at the ceremony, the commissioning and laying a foundation stone of new compressor stations are Turkmenistan’s practical contributions to the realization of the quadrilateral agreement between the governments of Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on increasing the capacity of Central Asia-Center - 4 trunk gas pipeline. Having signed the Honorable Guests Record Book, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented the distinguished workers with valuable gifts, the TDH reports.

The Dovletabad-2 gas compressor station with the annual capacity of 20 billion cub m of gas will be commissioned in two years. The complex valued at Euro 130 million will be constructed by ENEX. It will be fitted out with the technological equipment of European and American companies: Dresser Rand, General Electric, PALL, Honeywell, Emerson Process Management, Schneyder Electric. Dedication of the Dovletabad-2 compressor station will make it possible to increase gas exports by another 4 billion cub m of gas and will create new jobs.

The launching of the Dovletabad-3 booster compressor station will increase the productivity of existing fields by up to 10 million cub m of gas a day. The annual capacity of the site built under the “turn key” conditions by Belgian ENEX company will be 20 billion cub m of gas. The biggest US, German, French, Polish, Indonesian companies took part in equipping it. The national cadre of specialists will maintain the compressor station.
